Steven D. Hyden, CPA/ABV, CM&AA has been a full-time business appraiser and expert witness for over 30 years, specializing in intangible assets, including intellectual property. He has developed analyses that have been reviewed and accepted by the Securities and Exchange Commission, major accounting firms, the IRS and the courts.
Mr. Hyden is also very active in merger and acquisition advisory services. He is a managing director of Washington Partners, LLC, a firm that specializes in providing intermediary services to lower-middle market and middle market business owners who are contemplating exit or growth strategy opportunities. Washington Partners advises both buy-side and sell-side clients.
In addition to the above, Mr. Hyden is President of Hyden Capital, Inc. Hyden Capital also operates in the mergers and acquisitions space, primarily providing valuation services to business owners who are contemplating selling their business.
Mr. Hyden has coauthored and taught numerous valuation courses, including New Rules on Purchase Accounting: SFAS No. 141 Business Combinations, SFAS No. 142 Goodwill and Other Intangible Assets. He was a guest expert for the AICPA Continuing Professional Education video course series, "Valuation of Intellectual Property" and has worked with the FASB on its project, "Disclosure About Intangible Assets." He served on the American Society of Appraisers Business Valuation Subcommittee - Valuation Issues in Financial Reporting and is a member of the Appraisal Issues Task Force.
Mr. Hyden is a co-author of Valuation for Financial Reporting: Fair Value, Business Combinations, Intangible Assets, Goodwill, and Impairment Analysis, Third Edition (2010), published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc. He is also a contributing author of Financial Valuation: Applications and Models (First, Second and Third Editions), also published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
Mr. Hyden has a Bachelor's degree in marketing from Syracuse University and a MBA from Pace University in New York. He is a CPA and is Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) by the American Society of Certified Public Accountants.
