Michael A. Crain is a principal of The Financial Valuation Group of Ft. Lauderdale, Inc. Mr. Crain has been a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Florida since 1984 and holds several certifications in valuation, fraud examination, and financial analysis. He practices mostly in the areas of forensic accounting, measurement of economic damages, and valuation of businesses and intangible assets.
Mr. Crain received a Bachelors of Arts degree in accounting and a Masters in Business Administration degree, both from Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky. He has also undertaken doctorate studies at the Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, England.
Mr. Crain previously worked in the auditing and consulting areas in public accounting firms including an international firm where he was a senior manager. Mr. Crain has served as a consulting and testifying expert in many commercial cases working for both plaintiffs and defendants in state and Federal courts. He has also served as an arbitrator in commercial damages and minority shareholder cases and as a court-appointed accountant. Moreover, he has also served as a special investigator on behalf of the county attorney and board of county commissioners for a Florida county government to investigate their county manager. Mr. Crain has previously been approved as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association's Commercial Panel. Furthermore, he has been an author, co-author or contributing author of professional books and journal articles. Mr Crain has also received several awards including the AICPA's Lawler Award presented by the Journal of Accountancy for best article of the year and been inducted into the AICPA's Business Valuation hall of Fame.
